Michael Barker Productions
Michael Barker's career spans thirty-eight years of acting, directing and teaching in the performing arts. In Los Angeles, Michael's television appearances include Rockford Files, Archie Bunker's Place, C.H.I.P.S, Quantum Leap and Tour of Duty. He played lead film roles in That Summer and in Fade Away.
Michael was a member of the repertory troupe Theatricum Botanicum, founded by Will Geer, best known for his role as Papa Walton in The Waltons. Michael appeared in and had directing and technical roles in 12 productions, including: Our Town, Winter's Tale, A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Tempest, and Suddenly Last Summer. As a member of Theatre West, the famed artistic cooperative in Hollywood, Michael starred in Will Rogers, a one-man show, Summer Heat, and A Christmas Carol - as Scrooge.
Since moving to the Puget sound Region, Michael has worked with theater groups on Vashon Island and Whidbey Island, WA directing and performing in acclaimed new plays - "Becky's New Car" - as well as favorites, such as "A Child's Christmas in Wales."
Michael has a special gift for engaging youth and adults in developing spontaneity and discovering inner capacities of expression through Improv. He founded an Improv troupe on Whidbey Island, WA and directed Wake Up Laughing (12 performances) and Side of Fries (5 performances). La Dada Improv show was developed and performed in Colorado Springs. In California, the Improv Apricot Players, performed and offered workshops throughout LA, Hollywood and the San Fernando Valley.
